Preterm babies often face life-threatening infections because of an absence of healthy bacteria in their systems. Mom’s milk provides essential bacteria and nutrients. Researchers at UC Davis Children’s Hospital NICU have discovered that combining mom’s milk and probiotics may hold the key to building a healthy bacteria balance, resulting in life-saving outcomes and a reduced risk of infections.
