The California condor.
Will be given the eyes towards the center of our page.
A large circle.
Right in the middle of that, the pupil.
There's a secondary circle around the first one.
Good.
Now for the head.
We're going to come down around and in.
That little bump on top down around.
This is going to go right into the next.
We're going to keep it going.
Keep it going.
And then up sort of a letter J shape right there for the front of the neck.
We're going to come down.
Add a little bit of an Adam's apple in and up.
It's that little dash right here.
Now for the little fluffy collar around the neck.
Just sort of scribble that in just all those fluffy feathers.
That little fluffy ring of feathers around their neck is called a rough, and it helps keep them warm.
Now let's come back up to the head and add on the beak.
We're going to add a little line right here.
And then the beak itself down.
Up round point in and up.
On the tip of the beak.
A little line like so.
Now the eyebrows.
A couple little spots.
Maybe some little feathers sticking out here and there.
Fantastic.
Now for the very large wings.
So right where we left off on this fluff.
Up, down.
Up down, up, down up.
And there's the little scribbly line that comes in right about here that forms the top part of the wing, which is a lighter color than the bottom part.
The bottom part of the wing looks like this.
And then right in, let's do the other side.
Around out, down and up.
Down and up, down and up.
And then work our way over.
Good.
The bottom half of the wing looks like this.
And in Condors have an impressive wingspan.
Up to ten feet.
That makes them the largest flying land bird in North America.
Now for the body.
We're going to come in just a little bit.
And then from this wing, come around out, up and in, across, out, down, up and in.
That's going to form the legs.
We're going to add the little claws and talons.
Out, out round letter C up and in again around out and around a letter C shape up and in You're doing great.
You really are talented.
a little bit of texture.
Good tail feathers look like this.
Down.
Up.
Notch.
Notch.
Notch and up.
At one point, the California Condors range extended from California to Florida, Canada and Mexico.
By 1982, there were only 23 condors surviving worldwide.
But thanks to conservation and reintroduction efforts, the population has now grown to around 300.
And I'm going to color in the body and the wings.
It's actually colored in black.
But we're just going to use a little bit of line shading to suggest the color.
You can always color it all in later.
If you choose to.
There we go.
We got a few clouds in the sky.
And that's it.
Be sure to sign your name.
Take pride in your work.
work.
What a beautiful and majestic condor.
