Narrated by Kelvin Han Yee. In the 1850s, thousands of Chinese fortune-seekers from the southern provinces of China, rushed to "Gam San," or "Gold Mountain," to discover their future. Arriving in San Francisco, they quickly make their way to the mines more than 100 miles away. With their strong work ethic, many Chinese workers without delay began working off the cost of their passage.
